Hello reader! It’s me Eli, I figured I’d write just a little bit more about myself and how I got started in video production. I was born and raised in NYC and throughout my childhood juggled my passions of visual art, alongside being raised in a large family of classical musicians. Every one of my 3 siblings studied at least 2 instruments growing up, and I landed on both Violin and Piano.

While attending York Prep high school, I struggled with my academics, but thrived when working on my own projects with my new friends, or acting on stage in the drama club. After rehearsing for roles such as Emmett Forrest in legally blonde, I would take time outside of school to produce videos for a Youtube Channel called “the4knurds” The word knurd coming from a possibly false story of the of the word nerd originating from the word “drunk” backwards. Celebrating nerd culture as glorifying obsession over specific topics, my nerdy hyper focus on film making would grow, especially with the series “Word Pong” A concept where my friend and I would trade off making weekly videos based off a single word prompt to motivate each others videos.

When I decided to pursue filmmaking at the School of Visual arts, I maintained my connection to the classical music world by working with musicians all around New York, recording concerts, music videos, and lectures. It was during this time I also started working as a freelance editor with Complex Media editing short form promotional content for many brands under Complex. Working my way through college, I was also able to create a web series with two of my favorite classmates, together we founded our sketch comedy channel More Than Enough. Creating weekly sketch videos with a team of just 3 people, taught me everything I needed to know about video production on a time constraint and budget. The experience also taught me a lot about writing comedy and editing engaging short form videos.

With all of these projects outside of school, needless to say my academics suffered. Despite that fact, I was able to graduate in 2019 with my Bachelors in Film Directing. Today I take all of what i’ve learned over my life and apply it to whatever project I am working on. I have no current plans to go back to school as my academics are still suffering, but somehow I think i’ll be just fine. Thanks for reading.
